Can a camera see through the smoke and ash inside a biomass power boiler?
Yes. Our specialized camera systems, such as the Terminator series, utilize wavelength-optimized infrared and near-infrared optics specifically designed to penetrate the dense smoke, falling ash, and volatile gases typical of biomass and hog fuel boilers.
How are the cameras protected from the extreme heat of the furnace?
Syn-Fab power boiler cameras are protected by our proprietary IP66/NEMA 4X STEELON™ housings and a continuous air-purge system. This instrument-quality compressed air cools the camera core and prevents particulate buildup on the furnace lens, allowing the system to operate continuously in ambient environments up to 550°F (289°C) and monitor processes up to 3,500°F (1,927°C).
Can the camera system automatically retract if there is a problem?
Yes. Syn-Fab offers an optional automatic retract system for our high-temperature cameras. If the system detects a loss of cooling air, electrical power failure, or a high-temperature alarm condition, the camera is automatically withdrawn from the boiler to prevent damage to the optics and core.
