See Through the Haze. Eliminate Your Imaging Problems.

The Terminator™ Series (SF12MT) utilizes a wavelength-optimized infrared optical system designed specifically to penetrate the dense smoke, falling ash, and volatile gases found in the world's most hostile environments—including recovery boilers and power boilers.

By combining advanced optics with a state-of-the-art Uncooled Microbolometer sensor, the Terminator provides an unparalleled level of definition and contrast. It delivers crystal-clear, real-time video and temperature data, allowing operators to continuously monitor the furnace without being blinded by atmospheric conditions.

The Ultimate Smelt Bed Camera System

Housed in our proprietary IP66/NEMA 4X STEELON™ enclosure, the Terminator is the industry standard for smelt bed monitoring. The exceptional clarity enables the early detection of tube leaks, prevents runoffs, and provides the precise visual data needed to safely assist in shaping and positioning fuel beds.

Multi-Zone Thermal Mapping

The Terminator SF12MT delivers precise, real-time temperature analysis of the smelt bed. By defining multiple measurement zones, operators can continuously monitor temperature gradients, instantly identify localized cooling, and ensure optimal combustion efficiency.

Terminator™ SF12MT FAQs

Review common questions regarding the Terminator’s cooling requirements, temperature ratings, and system integration. Don't see what you're looking for? Our engineering team is available to help you spec the right system for your application.

The Terminator camera system requires clean, dry compressed air at approximately 15–20 PSI and 15–20 SCFM to provide adequate cooling and purge the viewing window. Actual air requirements vary depending on the furnace lens length and operating environment.

In most applications, water cooling is not required. The Terminator system is typically protected using an air purge that cools both the furnace lens and camera housing. For extremely demanding environments, water-cooled systems are available.

If the system is equipped with an auto-retract, the Terminator camera will automatically retract and withdraw the furnace lens upon loss of purge air or electrical power. The system can also be configured to retract on high-temperature alarms.

Yes. The Terminator is designed so the camera can be removed for inspection, cleaning, or maintenance without shutting down the process. An optional self-sealing wallbox closes when the camera is removed, helping protect personnel from process heat and blowback.

In many applications, yes. Mill air can often be used provided it is properly filtered, dry, and oil-free before reaching the camera system. Contaminated air can reduce cooling efficiency, shorten component life, and degrade system performance.

Yes. Syn-Fab camera systems can be integrated with most existing plant control systems and DCS platforms. We offer both Ethernet/IP and analog camera systems, allowing the video and data to be incorporated into most modern control architectures.

Yes. Syn-Fab’s furnace cameras can be ordered in a portable configuration that allows real-time inspections during normal operations or shut-downs. This includes a smaller air assembly and a local monitor with recording capabilities.
