Biomass & Bark Boiler Cameras

Penetrate heavy smoke and particulate to continuously monitor fuel feed, grate combustion, and ash handling with industry-leading boiler imaging systems.

SYN-FAB IS TRUSTED BY INDUSTRY LEADERS

The Challenge of Biomass Combustion Monitoring

Unlike standardized gas or coal firing, biomass and bark fuels vary wildly in moisture content, size, and consistency. Operating a bark boiler blindly means operators cannot see if the fuel is burning evenly on the grate or if wet bark is piling up and choking the system. Unmonitored grate jams, uneven combustion, and ash buildup lead to severe boiler damage, unplanned outages, and massive efficiency losses.

Rugged Diagnostics for Solid Fuel Boilers

Syn-Fab biomass and bark boiler cameras utilize advanced optics designed to cut through dense smoke and flying particulate. Housed in extreme-duty PIII STEELON™ enclosures with continuous vortex air-purging, our systems provide a crystal-clear, real-time view of the combustion grate and fuel feed, ensuring your operators can adjust air-to-fuel ratios instantly.

  • Monitor Grate Combustion: Visually confirm even fuel distribution and burn rates across the moving grate.
  • Prevent Fuel Jams: Detect wet bark pile-ups and fuel chute blockages before they choke the boiler.
  • Optimize Ash Handling: Monitor the ash discharge zones to ensure continuous, blockage-free operation.
  • Enhance Safety: Eliminate the need for dangerous manual visual inspections at the boiler observation doors.

Biomass & Bark Boiler Cameras FAQs

Review common questions regarding the installation, operation, and environmental protection of our Biomass & Bark Boiler Cameras. Don't see your specific application addressed? Our engineering team is available to help you configure the right imaging solution for your facility.
Can the camera see through the heavy smoke and particulate in a bark boiler?
Yes. Syn-Fab cameras utilize specialized optical configurations and near-infrared sensors that are specifically tuned to penetrate the dense smoke, dust, and flying particulate common in solid-fuel biomass boilers.
How do the cameras stay clean in such a dusty environment?
Our systems feature heavy-duty, continuous vortex air-purging assemblies. This high-velocity air barrier prevents ash, dust, and debris from settling on the viewing window, drastically reducing the need for manual cleaning.
Can the camera be integrated into our existing control system?
Yes. Syn-Fab camera systems can be integrated with most existing plant control systems and DCS platforms. We offer both Ethernet/IP and analog camera systems, allowing the video and data to be incorporated into most modern control architectures without needing an entirely separate monitoring network.
Can the camera be removed for maintenance while the boiler remains in operation?
Yes. Syn-Fab camera systems are designed so the camera can be removed for inspection, cleaning, or maintenance without shutting down the process. An optional self-sealing wallbox closes when the camera is removed, helping protect personnel and equipment from process heat, pressure, and blowback.
