The SF10 Boiler Inspection Device (BID)

When your plant is down for maintenance, you need eyes inside the boiler immediately. Syn-Fab’s Boiler Inspection Device (BID) is a specialized, portable configuration of our proven SF10 system designed specifically for temporary use in non-operating, unpressurized environments. Built with our signature rugged engineering, this portable system allows engineers and maintenance teams to safely assess internal conditions, refractory wear, and tube health during outages—without waiting for the unit to completely cool down.

(Full SF10 BID specifications are currently being updated and will be available soon.)

Key SF10 BID Specifications & Features

  • Versatile Probe Lengths: Small diameter camera assembly available with rigid or flexible extensions from 1’ (0.3m) up to 20’ (6.09m). Includes four 4' extension units standard.
  • Interchangeable Optics: Straight ahead or right-angle line-of-sight camera heads that can be quickly swapped in the field.
  • Custom Imaging: Available in high-resolution visible light (color or monochrome) or NIR (Near Infrared) for areas too dark for the naked eye.
  • Air-Purged Cooling: Operates on instrument-quality compressed air (15 psig @ 20 scfm).
  • Complete Portability: Powered by a 12 VDC portable battery pack for hours of untethered operation, or indefinitely via 120 VAC. Includes a rugged carrying case.

Portable Configurations for Temporary Testing & Inspections

While the SF10 BID is purpose-built for unpressurized outages, most of Syn-Fab’s industrial camera systems can be ordered in a portable configuration. Whether you need to perform real-time inspections during normal operations or set up temporary monitoring during a shutdown, our standard cameras can be adapted with smaller air assemblies, portable battery packs, and local monitors with recording capabilities to meet your specific testing needs.
