About Syn-Fab Inc.

SYN-FAB® was founded in 1974 by Jesse R. Kennedy, originally operating under the name Synthetic Fabricated Products Inc. Our early years were defined by pioneering the manufacturing of rugged, high-temperature enclosures for Motorola CCTV cameras. In 1975, we made a major leap in industrial imaging durability by becoming the first company to utilize high-temperature synthetic bearing material for boiler and furnace camera enclosures. As demand for our specialized equipment grew, we moved into our current production facility in Mobile, Alabama in 1979, officially adopting the SYN-FAB name in 1983.

Innovation and proprietary engineering have always been the driving forces behind our systems. Under the leadership of Marcus R. Kennedy, Syn-Fab secured critical US patents in the late 1980s, including a groundbreaking High-Temperature Infrared Imaging System (Patent #4695881) and an advanced Camera Mounting and Port Cleaning Device (Patent #4759299). During this era of rapid technological advancement, we served as the exclusive manufacturer of high-temperature imaging systems for Nokia/CE. We have consistently pushed the industry forward, later becoming the first company to market furnace imaging systems utilizing solid-state infrared technology, followed by broadband infrared camera technology.

We take immense pride in designing, manufacturing, and shipping all of our equipment directly from our headquarters in Mobile, Alabama. Our in-house machine and fabrication shops build our proprietary furnace lenses, specialized mounting hardware, and rugged high-temperature camera enclosures. Unlike competitors who rely on commercially available borescopes designed for temporary use, all SYN-FAB® furnace lenses are purpose-built for continuous use in boilers and kilns. Our outer lens tubes are constructed from thick-walled, high-temperature Schedule 10 stainless-steel pipe to ensure maximum operational survival. Because we control the manufacturing process from start to finish, we maintain strict quality standards and have the unique capability to customize our systems—including Hastelloy and Inconel alloys—for highly specialized industrial applications. Our facility has continually expanded to meet industry demands, including the addition of a dedicated in-house imaging pyrometer calibration lab, ensuring that every piece of equipment that leaves our floor delivers unmatched precision and reliability in the harshest environments.
