Furnace Cameras

Visually monitor burner ignition, material flow, and refractory health in extreme industrial environments with ruggedized furnace imaging systems rated for processes up to 3500°F.

SYN-FAB IS TRUSTED BY INDUSTRY LEADERS

The Challenge of Industrial Furnace Monitoring

From steel reheat furnaces to glass melt tanks and petrochemical heaters, industrial furnaces are the critical, high-temperature heart of heavy manufacturing. Operating blindly at temperatures exceeding 3,000°F forces facilities to rely on guesswork and dangerous manual port inspections. If a burner misaligns, material jams on the hearth, or refractory bricks begin to fail, the resulting downtime can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Operators need clear, continuous visibility into the combustion zone to optimize fuel efficiency and protect their assets.

Precision Imaging for Extreme Heat

Syn-Fab high-temperature furnace cameras deliver real-time, high-definition video directly from the most volatile combustion zones. Engineered with specialized optics designed to penetrate smoke, chemical haze, and brilliant burner flames, our systems allow control rooms to continuously monitor process conditions. Protected by rugged PIII STEELON™ and heavy-duty air-purge assemblies, Syn-Fab cameras thrive in extreme radiant heat where standard industrial CCTV equipment fails. Optional water-cooled housing and lens jackets are also available when necessary.

Operational Benefits:

  • Monitor Burner Performance: Visually verify burner ignition, flame geometry, and fuel-to-air ratios to maximize combustion efficiency and reduce emissions.
  • Track Material Flow: Ensure proper pacing and detect jams or misalignments of steel slabs, glass melt, or other materials moving through the furnace.
  • Protect Refractory Health: Identify localized hot spots, refractory wear, and structural issues before they lead to a catastrophic shell failure.
  • Enhance Operator Safety: Completely eliminate the need for personnel to conduct hazardous manual inspections at the furnace observation doors.

Furnace Cameras FAQs

Review common questions regarding the installation, operation, and environmental protection of our Furnace Cameras. Don't see your specific application addressed? Our engineering team is available to help you configure the right imaging solution for your facility.
What is the maximum process temperature a Syn-Fab furnace camera can monitor?
Our high-temperature furnace camera systems are designed to monitor internal process temperatures up to 3,500°F (1,927°C). We select the appropriate camera model, cooling method, and furnace lens configuration based on the specific radiant heat and environmental conditions of your application.
Should I use a visible-light or infrared (IR) camera for my furnace?
Selection depends on process temperature and viewing conditions. Visible-light cameras are highly effective for processes above 1,000°F (540°C). Infrared (IR) cameras are often preferred for lower-temperature applications (like heat-treat furnaces) or environments with heavy smoke and haze, as they can receive more radiant energy and penetrate atmospheric contaminants.
Does Syn-Fab offer a portable camera for temporary furnace inspections?
Yes. Syn-Fab furnace cameras can be ordered in a portable configuration that allows for temporary, real-time inspections during normal operations or shut-downs. This configuration includes a smaller air assembly and a local monitor with recording capabilities.
