Complete Lime Kiln and Cement Kiln Visibility

The Pyro-Viper™ (SF12C-2C-HD) is purpose-built to penetrate the heavy dust, slag, and extreme temperatures of cement and lime production. By delivering continuous, high-definition visibility and real-time thermal data, the Pyro-Viper allows operators to optimize burner flames, monitor refractory health, and prevent costly ring build-ups.

Advanced Diagnostics & Rugged Hardware

A successful kiln camera system requires two things: software capable of delivering actionable data, and hardware capable of surviving the environment. The Pyro-Viper delivers both.

Precision Thermal Mapping

Move beyond simple visual monitoring. When paired with our PV-HD software, the Pyro-Viper provides precise, multi-zone surface temperature measurements within the kiln. Operators can set custom Regions of Interest (ROIs) to trigger alarms if temperatures fall out of spec, ensuring product quality and process stability.

Engineered for Severe Environments

Standard borescopes fail in cement kilns. The Pyro-Viper is constructed with a heavy-duty Schedule 10 stainless steel lens construction and protected by a continuous air purge that cools both the housing and the furnace lens. Available in multiple lengths from 18 inches up to 65 inches to perfectly match your kiln's refractory depth.

Pyro-Viper ™ SF12C-2C-HD System FAQs

Get quick answers regarding the cooling requirements, maintenance, and integration of the Pyro-Viper kiln camera system. For full support documentation, visit our Resources page.

The Pyro-Viper requires clean, dry compressed air at approximately 15–20 PSI and 15–20 SCFM to provide adequate cooling and purge the viewing window of dust and particulate. Actual requirements will vary depending on the length of the furnace lens required to penetrate your kiln's refractory.

If equipped with an auto-retract, the Pyro-Viper camera will automatically retract and withdraw the furnace lens upon loss of purge air or electrical power. This is critical in kiln environments to prevent severe heat damage to the camera core.

Yes. The Pyro-Viper is designed so the camera can be safely removed for inspection or cleaning without shutting down the process. An optional self-sealing wallbox automatically closes when the camera is removed, protecting personnel from extreme process heat and blowback.

Yes. When integrated with our PV-HD software, the Pyro-Viper can provide multiple Regions of Interest (ROIs) for surface temperature measurement. These can be configured to generate alarms when user-defined temperature thresholds are exceeded within the kiln.

In many applications, yes. Mill air can often be used provided it is properly filtered, dry, and oil-free before reaching the camera system. Contaminated air can reduce cooling efficiency, shorten component life, and degrade system performance.

Yes. Syn-Fab camera systems can be integrated with most existing plant control systems and DCS platforms. We offer both Ethernet/IP and analog camera systems, allowing the video and data to be incorporated into most modern control architectures.

Yes. Syn-Fab’s furnace cameras can be ordered in a portable configuration that allows real-time inspections during normal operations or shut-downs. This includes a smaller air assembly and a local monitor with recording capabilities.
